Dale Yasukawa Award Recipient Interview

From 2008 – 2020, I was the department photographer & videographer throughout the school year, documenting the onsite portion of the program, as well as filming student, faculty and patient model interviews for use internally and in marketing on the department website and other social media channels. In addition, recorded and edited over 1000 hours of prosthetic and orthotic lectures, patient assessments and fabrication demonstrations by faculty and guest lecturers in a multi-camera video production booth and on-location for live streaming and on-demand content for Master-degree seeking students as part of the blended learning MPO program.

Thembinkosi: Robben Island Tour Guide

An excerpt from Groundswell Films co-founder & Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Jeff Spitz’s ongoing film & concert project, The Robben Island Singers, about the lives of three anti-apartheid freedom fighters who were formerly incarcerated on Robben Island, South Africa with Nelson Mandela. Edited rough sequences for the final film, as well as five promotional videos involving the cultural exchanges between the singers and several high schools in Chicago and in East St. Louis with the purpose of growing the outreach portion of the project.

In this clip, Thembinkosi has come full circle to take a job as a tour guide at the same Robben Island Prison, which is now a museum.
